Who do you think owns the most expensive house? This guy(gates) or
This(Bezos) or
Or maybe this guy (Zuck).
Nope, you didn’t get that right. It’s logical to think that the wealthiest people on earth should have the most expensive houses on the face of this planet.
I mean, that makes sense. With over a $150 billion that Jeff Bezos has he should be able to build a house that worth billions of dollars but unfortunately his wealth is tied to Amazon.
If he suddenly liquidates all of his Amazon shares, he will be will probably damage his net worth more than he would benefit. But some people have built so many strong huge income streams that they don’t really know what to do with all of that cash.
They’ve got yachts, helicopters, jets everything you can think about, and they have no idea what to spend on theses millions or billions of dollars. So some of these rich people decided to build the most expensive homes ever on the face of this planet.
There are only a handful of homes around the world are worth $300 million or more. So let’s start with the first one that is the least expensive on this list.
2-8A RUTLAND GATE
The property is a 45-room mansion at Rutland Gate in Knightsbridge with a price tag of $274 million.
The mansion is bigger than an American football field that’s located in the center of London. The price of the land itself is probably what makes this mansion so expensive. But that’s not all.
The mansion has 45 rooms, and most importantly, it has a long history. Originally it was built back in the 19th century in 1830 as four townhouses. The four houses were converted later into a single property.
The 60,000 sq feet mansion has a swimming pool, underground parking, several lifts, and substantial interior decoration of gold leaf.
The windows of the house are believed to be bulletproof. The house was owned by the London residence of the former Prime Minister of Lebanon and billionaire businessman Rafic Hariri.
Then the house was given as a gift to the then-Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and in January 2020, Chinese businessman Cheung Chung-Kiu (I am probably typed that incorrectly) was in the process of buying the property for $274 million.
ODEON TOWER PENTHOUSE
If you think that’s expensive, you probably haven’t seen the properties in Monaco, which is a small country in Europe with a GDP per capita of 185,741.28 USD, which is four times the United States.
Its the home of some of the most expensive properties in the world. And the most expensive one is the Odeon Tower Penthouse. The Tour Odeon is a 49-story concrete-and-glass tower that has a five-story penthouse on top of it.
It’s a 31,500-square foot apartment that includes a rooftop deck and pool, with its own water slide that descends one story from the dance floor directly into the infinity pool.
The flat has a spectacular view of the ocean. The real estate in this city is expensive, 90 square feet of the property would go for around a million dollars, so no wonder this penthouse costs approximately 350 to 400 million dollars.
Monaco is tax heaven and filled with millionaires and even billionaires from all across the world. Even though the flat has been on sale for some time, they should find a buyer in the foreseeable future.
FAIR FIELD MANSION
The next on our list is Fair Field Mansion - Ira Rennert’s Hamptons mansion. If you are an old man who has not that much longer to live and has 3 billion dollars, what would you do?
How about getting a mansion that’s bigger than palaces of Royalties. The mansion is impressive. It has 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, its own power plant, three swimming pools, a synagogue, two courtyards, an orangery, a 164-seat home theater, a basketball court, and bowling alley.
Altogether, the buildings cover more than 110,000 square feet. But what sets it apart from other mansions is that the property covers a 63-acre of land that’s located in oceanfront.
Ira Rennert started building the sprawling estate in 1999 but couldn’t move in with his family until 2004, after facing lawsuits from his neighbors.
The home is worth $248 million, according to the Fiscal Times, and can be listed for about $500 million today, which makes it one of the most expensive houses in the world.
VILLA LEOPOLDA
The fourth on the list is an architectural masterpiece - VILLA LEOPOLDA.
It was built in 1931 on an estate once owned by King Leopold II of Belgium. After Leopold’s death, his nephew, King Albert I, became its owner.
During world war I. it was used as a military hospital. Since then, the villa changed hands multiple times from nobilities to philanthropists to billionaires.
In 1987 La Leopolda had become one of the properties owned the house by the Lebanese born Brazilian banker Edmond Safra and his wife, Lily. They redesigned the interior and had some of the biggest parties in the country multiple times a week.
The villa has everything one could wish, from swimming pool to all other amenities. One of the Russian billionaire businessman Mikhail Prokhorov made several attempts to buy the villa Leopolda from Safra before she finally accepted his offer for $ 390 million in the summer of 2008.
But the 2008 financial crisis pushed the Russian billionaire to back down. Today the villa is listed for about 750 million dollars.
ANTILIA
And finally, the house that claims the title of the most expensive house in the world is ANTILIA in Mumbai, India that belongs to Mukesh Ambani.
Its 27-story and 173 meters tall. With over 400,000 square feet. It has luxury amenities such as three helipads, a 168- car garage, a ballroom, 80-seat theater, terrace gardens, spa, and a temple.
The skyscraper-mansion is one of the world’s largest and most elaborate private homes. The world’s most valuable private residence. It is one of the most controversial designs and ostentatious use by a single family has made it infamous in India and beyond.
Antilia started building in 2006 and was built in consultation with U.S architecture firms. The Antilia has 27 floors with extra- high ceilings. The valuation of this property isn’t clear;
Some estimate it at around 1.5 to 2 billion dollars, the highest valuation was at around 3 billion dollars. But everyone agrees that it’s valued above a billion dollars. However, selling it for such a price tag might present a lot of challenges. And that is the list of the most luxuries and most expensive homes from across the world.
